Friday of the Fifth Week of Lent

every kind oj plant that bears seed and every kind
oj fruit tree on earth that bears fruit with its seed in it.

And so it happened .God saw how good it was.
(Genesis 1:12-13)

Food is simply too good to waste. Ten percent of the
total US. energy budget is spent getting food to our
tables. Growing/raising this food uses fifty percent of
US. land and eighty percent of freshwater consumed in
the United States. Yet, forty percent of food in the US.
today goes uneaten.

In Mark’s Gospel, we read the story of ]esus’
concern for the hungry people who had
been with him for three days and had
nothing to eat and of Jesus’ miraculous
response to their needs. Could it be
part of this miracle was that some
among the crowd opened their hearts to share with those around them the little food they had? So much sharing that after all were fed and satisfied, there was food left .
(Mark 8:1-10)
What is the message to us?
