restore aging Catholic churches

A fundraiser dinner was held to honor Bishop Mark Hagemoen, bishop of the Mackenzie-Fort Smith Diocese, Yellowknife, Canada. The February 7 event marked his first year in the diocese.

According to SM Lee Przybylski, the purpose of the event was to raise funds for diocesan programming that will assist families and youth as well as restore aging Catholic churches across the territory. Thirty-six communities fall within the diocese’s jurisdiction.

Approximately 120 people attended the dinner that featured speeches from members of the diocese. Bishop Mark presented a video showing all the churches in the missions along with a brief history of each.  SM Celeste Goulet ministers in St. Theresa of Avila Church, Tulita, Northwest Territories.
