Vision and Commitment

The huge rental bus rambled to the entrance of the Marian Nursing Care Center in Livonia, MI, on Sunday, October 6, and sisters in wheelchairs and walkers as well as on foot made their way to the chapel.

A Mass honoring the vision and commitment of the Felician Sisters – past and present – was being celebrated by Most Reverend Bishop Francis Reiss, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Detroit. Assisting the bishop were Monsignor Thomas Villerot, Father Timothy Babcock and Father Salvino Briffa

Prior to the Mass, the theme of the day, Standing On the Shoulders of the Ones Who Came Before Us, was highlighted by four candles placed in front of a framed picture of St. Francis, St. Felix, St. Clare and Blessed Mary Angela.

Sisters representing the ministries on the complex were assigned as lectors and Eucharistic ministers during the liturgy: Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Convent, Madonna University, Ladywood High School, Marywood Nursing Care Center, Angela Hospice, St. Mary Child Care Center, and Montessori Center of Our Lady.

Following the Mass, the sisters and guests gathered in the main dining room for a reception. Two large cakes with the photos of the Franciscan saints and Blessed Angela provided the sweet dessert.
