The sisters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Convent in Coraopolis, PA, celebrated Peace on Holy Ground on Sunday, October 6, as they commemorated the 25th Anniversary of the dedication of the Felician Sisters Peace Site
The celebration then moved from the interior holy ground to the outdoor sacred spaces, with pilgrimages to the Peace Pole and the Peace Site. At the Peace Pole, Father Jim McDonough, chaplain, prayed a blessing prayer over the newly-installed Peace Pole in front of the high school. At the final destination, the statue of St. Francis, the pilgrims offered prayers of blessing and petition, as they faced each of the four corners of the earth.
The sisters of Immaculate Heart of Mary Central Convent in Buffalo, NY held an outdoor procession which led to the Peace Site and statue of St. Francis for the re-dedication of the peace site and re-commitment to the work of peace. More than 25 years ago, the Villa Maria complex was dedicated as a peace site.
